Fullness in the cheeks often mask the contours of a beautiful upper cheekbone and lower jawbone. This fullness is a result from buccal fat pads, naturally-occuring pockets of fat within the cheeks. Through the buccal fat removal procedure, excess fat is reduced for more sculpted facial features

During your one-on-one consultation, Dr. Park and Dr. Hu will listen to your concerns and develop a fully customized treatment plan to help you achieve your aesthetic goals. We believe in tailoring each surgery to the needs of the patient, and never want you to have more surgery than is necessary for the most natural-looking results.

Procedure

During buccal fat removal surgery, small incisions are made on the inner portion of the cheek inside the mouth. Through these tiny incisions, Dr. Park will be able to remove the unwanted fat pads from under the skin. Once the fat is removed, the incisions are closed. The surgery is performed in a private procedure suite under local anesthesia. The entire procedure takes approximately 1 hour to complete.

Recovery

After surgery, you may experience tenderness and swelling in the treated areas. This typically diminishes within a few days. Most patients generally recover from their buccal fat removal 3-7 days following the procedure. While limited results may be visible immediately following surgery, final results will gradually emerge during the next several weeks when all the swelling subsides.
